Jotform review
Drag-and-drop form builder with payments on every plan and a self-serve HIPAA tier, held back by four overlapping usage caps
Unpaid review. We currently earn nothing if you sign up for Jotform — links here go straight to the vendor. We review it anyway because it's the honest answer, and scores never depend on commissions — how we test.
ToolsGavel verdict
Jotform fits most small businesses: payments and branding removal arrive cheaply, a HIPAA tier exists, and 1,856 Trustpilot reviews land at 4.2 out of 5. It loses points for four overlapping caps that make the right plan hard to pick, single-user seats and recurring support complaints. It is a form tool first, so deep survey analysis belongs elsewhere.
Best for: Small businesses and clinics that need payment forms, branding removal or HIPAA compliance without a sales call, and can live with one user seat below Enterprise
What we liked
- Payments are built into every plan, including the free one (10 payments a month), so a simple order or donation form needs no paid tier (jotform.com/pricing)
- Branding comes off at the lowest paid tier, Bronze at $34/mo billed annually, which is $408 a year (jotform.com/pricing)
- A HIPAA path you can buy without talking to sales: Gold and Enterprise include HIPAA support with a BAA, which matters for clinics and therapists collecting intake forms (jotform.com/hipaa)
- The strongest Trustpilot record of the five form builders we compared: Trustpilot 4.2 out of 5 from 1,856 reviews, 76% five-star and 11% one-star (Trustpilot)
- The free plan is workable for a small site: 5 forms, 100 submissions a month and no card requirement stated on the pricing page (jotform.com/pricing)
What to watch
- Four caps run at the same time (active forms, monthly submissions, saved submissions, upload storage), and reviewers report being pushed to upgrade when upload storage fills (jotform.com/pricing, Trustpilot)
- One user seat on every plan below Enterprise, so a team sharing forms is stuck with shared logins or a custom quote (jotform.com/pricing)
- Support is the loudest theme in recent low-star Trustpilot reviews, including one reviewer who wrote that the company offers no human contact and an AI help flow (Trustpilot)
- HIPAA starts at Gold, $99/mo billed annually or $129/mo monthly, which is a steep jump from Bronze's $34 for a small practice (jotform.com/hipaa, jotform.com/pricing)

Jotform builds a drag-and-drop online form builder with conditional logic, payment collection, e-signatures, approvals and an AI assistant. It targets small businesses, clinics and agencies that need a working form quickly. Pricing runs from a free plan to $34 a month billed annually for the first paid tier, up to $99 a month annually at Gold, where HIPAA support starts. Trustpilot rates it 4.2 out of 5 from 1,856 reviews as of November 7, 2026. It sits at the top of our best online form builders guide.
What Jotform is for
Jotform is a form tool first and a survey tool second. You build a contact form, order form, registration page or intake packet, wire it to a payment gateway or a notification, and publish it by link or embed. Its feature list covers conditional logic, e-signatures, approval flows and an AI assistant that builds a form from a prompt. We did not verify the count of payment gateways or integrations Jotform advertises, so we leave those numbers out.
Survey depth is lighter than at SurveyMonkey. If you need randomization, crosstabs or significance testing on responses, Jotform is the wrong shape. If you need a payment form that also collects a signature, it fits well.
What you get on each plan
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per mo) | Active forms | Submissions/mo | Upload / saved subs | Payments/mo | HIPAA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | $0 | 5 | 100 | 100 MB / 500 | 10 | No |
| Bronze | $39 | $34 ($408/yr) | 25 | 1,000 | 1 GB / 10,000 | 100 | No |
| Silver | $49 | $39 ($468/yr) | 50 | 2,500 | 10 GB / 25,000 | 250 | No |
| Gold | $129 | $99 ($1,188/yr) | 100 | 10,000 | 100 GB / 100,000 | 1,000 | Yes |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Yes |
Branding comes off at Bronze and above. The free plan also counts 10,000 form views a month. The pricing page says live campaigns may change what a visitor sees, so treat the table as the standard schedule on November 7, 2026.
The four caps
Jotform meters four things at once: active forms, submissions per month, saved submissions and upload storage. Most competitors meter one thing, usually responses. The practical effect is that the plan name hides which limit you will hit first. A photo-upload form fills 100 MB of free storage long before it reaches 100 submissions.
Jotform does not publish what happens at a cap, and reviewers say reaching the upload limit forces an upgrade. Estimate your upload size and your saved submission count before you pick a tier, not only your monthly volume.
HIPAA and payments
Gold and Enterprise include HIPAA support with a BAA, per Jotform’s HIPAA page. At $99 a month billed annually, that is not cheap for a solo practitioner, but it is a published self-serve price rather than a sales quote. Payments sit in every plan, with 10 a month free, 100 on Bronze, 250 on Silver and 1,000 on Gold.
What users say in reviews
Trustpilot gives Jotform 4.2 out of 5 from 1,856 reviews, with 76% at five stars and 11% at one star. The low-star reviews we read repeat three themes. Support comes first, with one reviewer calling it “HORRIBLE customer support” and saying they found no human contact and an AI help flow. Another reviewer complains that the AI assistant moves form elements on its own: “I can’t even move a box anymore without ai moving it.” A third says Jotform “is set to force you to upgrade if you reach your upload data.” Smaller complaints cover marketing emails that are hard to stop, a cluttered interface and Zoom-type automations that sometimes fail.
G2 and
Capterra pages blocked direct access, so we could not read them. Secondary sources list G2 at about 4.7 from roughly 5,400 reviews and Capterra at about 4.7 from roughly 2,900. Treat those two figures as unconfirmed.
Who should skip it
Skip Jotform if your team needs several people editing forms under separate logins on a small budget. Plans below Enterprise are single-user, and Fillout gives unlimited seats on every plan. Skip it if your main job is survey research with statistical analysis, where SurveyMonkey goes deeper, though its billing record is far worse. If you only want a free builder with no submission limit on the free plan, compare Tally, and if you want a conversational, one-question-at-a-time design, look at Typeform. Before you buy, count your forms, monthly submissions, saved submissions and upload gigabytes against the table above, because the plan that fits on one of those four may fail on another.
Pricing note: Jotform has five plans, and the pricing page warns that live campaigns can change what you see. Starter is $0: 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month (plus 10,000 form views), 100 MB of upload storage, 500 saved submissions and 10 payments a month, with Jotform branding. Bronze is $39/mo or $408/yr ($34/mo) for 25 forms, 1,000 submissions, 1 GB upload storage, 10,000 saved submissions and 100 payments, and it removes branding. Silver is $49/mo or $468/yr ($39/mo) for 50 forms, 2,500 submissions, 10 GB, 25,000 saved submissions and 250 payments. Gold is $129/mo or $1,188/yr ($99/mo) for 100 forms, 10,000 submissions, 100 GB, 100,000 saved submissions and 1,000 payments, and it is the first published tier with HIPAA support and a BAA. Enterprise is custom-priced with no stated limits. Four separate caps apply at once (active forms, submissions per month, saved submissions and upload storage). Overage rules are not published, and reviewers say hitting the upload cap forces an upgrade. Plans below Enterprise are single-user.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Jotform cost?
Jotform has a free Starter plan and four paid plans. Bronze is $39/mo or $34/mo billed annually ($408/yr), Silver is $49/mo or $39/mo annually ($468/yr), and Gold is $129/mo or $99/mo annually ($1,188/yr). Enterprise is custom. The pricing page notes that live campaigns can change the numbers you see, so check the page at checkout.
Does Jotform have a free plan?
Yes. Starter costs $0 and includes 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month, 10 payments a month, 100 MB of upload storage and 500 saved submissions, with Jotform branding on your forms. The pricing page does not state a credit card requirement for it.
Is Jotform HIPAA compliant?
Jotform supports HIPAA on its Gold and Enterprise plans and offers a BAA there, according to its HIPAA page. Starter, Bronze and Silver do not include HIPAA support. Gold costs $99/mo billed annually. We did not read Jotform's separate HIPAA pricing page, so confirm any add-on fees before you buy.
Can a team share one Jotform account?
Not on a standard plan. Every plan below Enterprise is single-user, so a team either shares one login or asks Jotform for an Enterprise quote. Fillout, by contrast, gives unlimited seats on every plan, which we cover in the Fillout review.
What happens when I hit a Jotform limit?
Jotform does not publish overage rules for submissions or storage. Reviewers on Trustpilot say the account is set up to push an upgrade when upload storage fills. Because four caps apply at once (forms, submissions, saved submissions and storage), check all four against your expected volume before choosing a tier.
Bottom line
Jotform fits most small businesses: payments and branding removal arrive cheaply, a HIPAA tier exists, and 1,856 Trustpilot reviews land at 4.2 out of 5. It loses points for four overlapping caps that make the right plan hard to pick, single-user seats and recurring support complaints. It is a form tool first, so deep survey analysis belongs elsewhere.
